Introduction of the CNG installation :
CNG is supplied to vehicle at the CNG
stations. CNG Stations are developed all over Delhi. The CNG Stations
have Safety arrangements as per OISD-179, NFPA-52.
Introducing CNG Kit: -
CNG kit is
installed in vehicles operating on CNG.
CNG cylinders are installed under chassis
/ dickey at vehicles to store fuel.
High-pressure tubing is connecting the
cylinders and engine.
A low-pressure regulator is installed
to supply Gas to engine as per need.
A refueling connector is provide for
refueling gas in the vehicle.
A low-pressure hose is supplying gas
from regulator to engine.

Safety during driving a CNG vehicle :
Stop
dispensing.
Try to stop gas leakage by closing valve of
cylinder.
Do not start the engine, keep ignition off.
Remove all vehicles out of station by manual
pushing.
Push leaking
vehicles to a place out side the station in open Air.
Inform Area Control Room, Fire
& Safety Officer.
Ensure no smoking / Matchbox /
spark near leaking vehicle.
Keep public away from the vehicle.
If stoppage of
gas is not possible release the same in controlled and safe
manner to atmosphere.
In case of Gas fire in CNG Vehicle at CNG Station: -
Stop
Gas dispensing and compressor.
Isolation of gas supply.
Close suction valve and discharge
valve of compressor.
Isolation
of storage cascade by closing valve.
Isolation of
dispenser by closing valve.
Cut off power
supply from electrical panel room.
Use fire extinguisher
to extinguish fire.
Keep public away from the vehicle.
Simultaneously inform: -and safe
manner to atmosphere.
Fire service 101.
Delhi Police 101.
In case of casualty, call Ambulance 102,1099.
Remove all vehicles out of station.
Place “Danger Board”.
Debar entry for
unauthorized/unwanted person at station.
Inform fire &
safety at 9350200441.
Assist IGL Delhi
fire service & Police.
CNG Regulations
Any vehicle using CNG has to follow the required conditions
mentioned in the Central Motor Vehicle Rules.
Endorsement of
CNG or bi-fuel mode in Registration Certificate from vehicle.
Annual checking
of the CNG Kit and keep a certificate.
CNG
Cylinder has to follow the Gas cylinder rules and has to be
hydro tested once in 5 years and keep a certificate.
Certificate of CNG Kit, Fitness and hydrotest to be possessed
by the driver all the time.
Cylinder
safety
Don’t change
the color of the cylinder.
If safety disc has burst, replace it with genuine one do not
allow make shift arrangements.
Conduct hydroteste
once in 5 year.
No oil, Grease or lubricant to be used for cylinder.
No repair to be done
on cylinder and valves.
Always
maintain cylinders in good condition.
Do not allow any cylinder for heat treatment.
Observe all precautions to prevent fire and explosion.
Get
the cylinder hydrotest after any accident.
Daily safety checks
1) Check cylinder clamps
are tight and cylinder fixed properly and safely.
2) Cylinder valve are safe and valve wheel in place.
3) Tubing is intact and supported properly.
4) Check the leak by using soap solution.
Safety during refilling
Gas: -
1) Vehicle is
parked in front of the dispenser in correct position.
2) Engine is switched off and ignition key removed.
3) No one inside the vehicle.
4) All electrical system of the vehicle should be in off position.
5) Use of mobile phones and other battery operated devices not allowed
at CNG station.
6) No audible leakage from the CNG system before / during / after
the refilling of the gas.
7) Only one vehicle should is allowed inside station premises for
each refueling point at a time.
8) No person other than vehicle driver to be allowed at the station
while refilling of Gas.
9) Pressure in the cylinder not to be more than 200 kg/cm2.
10) Ensure gas filling nozzle is detached before taking away the vehicle
after refueling
11) Always follow station employee’s instructions.
